The biggest issue that I have with services like these are that they usually provide services you can do yourself, and then charge a fee. For the companies that take payment from the credit card companies instead of the consumer they can be a good deal. However, that fee in extra money that the consumer could get the credit card company to write off their account instead of paying the service. I used a company like this once before and it didn’t help in getting the creditors to stop calling. The results are not any more immediate than if you did the work yourself. So it can still be a frustrating process when working with a service like this because you don’t feel any immediate relief from the gut wrenching burden that haunts you on a daily basis.

So, for some situations they work well if you can find a creditable company, and in some cases they just add to the emotional and financial burden.
